jesse's bio

Born in Dearborn, MI on September 17, 1969 with his eyes wide open, Jesse has since kept his eyes on everything and has formed strong opinions about all of it.

At the age of 5 he was moved to California where, he was told, the sky would be bluer. This is the reason he did not grow up to become a cop or an automobile factory worker.

Growing up in California with his mother and little sister, Jesse was thoroughly "sissified". With no male role models around he struggled with his sexual identity until he discovered pink shaving cream and has lived happily ever since as straight, but not narrow.

Jesse started watching "Sesame Street" when it first aired and has loved puppets ever since. It wasn't until he was 24 years old that he found his first puppeteer job at Oakland's Children's Fairyland. There he apprenticed with master puppeteer Lewis Mahlmann, then a brief sojourn to Los Angeles to work for Bob Baker Marionettes, back to Fairyland, then he landed a job as director of a Puppet Theatre in San Jose which was cool… for a while. Then he left and tried to start his very own puppet theatre named “Fool Moon Puppets” which proved a bit more complicated than he imagined. This is why he has since had many temporary jobs that include, but are not limited to, a retail visual manager, window washer, haunted house builder and, finally, a prop artisan and supervisor for the American Musical Theatre of San Jose (by far the coolest of these jobs!)

Jesse currently resides in Concord (regrettably pronounced “conquered”). He has two cats named Bagheera and Rahja who are way cooler than your cats.

Intro to jesse

Oh, well! [Laughs aside] What can I tell you about myself that you don't already know? Heh. [Touches small lacy napkin to corner of mouth… sets aside small dish of delicacies (i.e. Cookie dough)] Well, let us just pretend that I am, to you, a complete stranger and start from there. Would that be good? Oh good. Let's.

I am mostly a puppeteer, let's say 59%. Now mix in comedian (12%), a little smidge writer (4%), balloon artist (4%), regular, old, run-of-the-mill artist (14%) and a very little much bit clown (which I won't mention here because I am ashamed of it.) Oh, and I do voices (7%). Mix in the 10% about me that is none of your damned business and you have it.

I think that about sums it. So drop by often. I promise to update frequently. Until then. Ta!

Jerry's Bio

Born in 1968 in San Antonio, Texas, Jerry! moved his family to Des Moines, Iowa to entertain him during his formative years. There until the age of 14, Jerry! took in all of the culture the Capital City of Iowa had to offer him: rolling hills, corn growing, thunderstorms and tornadoes. Tiring of this, he arranged for his mother to marry an old friend and then moved his kinfolk once again. This time to Oakland, California, known worldwide as “The City of Generous Potential”. There he cultivated his love of Science and Art and developed a powerful philosophy of skepticism, due to the fact that he was surrounded by frauds, thieves and crystal-loving ex-hippies.
Though his high school experience gave him little more than easy access to loathsome trogolodites, he was blessed with the meeting of his future wife, Robin Brady, whom he found scaring off tiny-brained classmates with a stick she had “given to fire.”
In 1995, they married, got a dog, and been having a hell of a time laughing at the rest of the world ever since.
UPDATE
In 2005, Robin had a growth surgically removed from her body. Evidence has shown that it was placed there by Jerry! They named the growth Malachi James and it turns out, he’s the coolest person they've ever met. Check him out at http://malachijames.blogspot.com.

Intro to Jerry!

Let me tell you a little about myself.
I'm an artist, writer, publisher and animator. And though all that is true, more than anything I consider myself a storyteller. In my case one who uses images more often than words alone. Whether designing a print ad, a brochure, a concert poster, a comic book, or an animated piece, I try to take into account the story behind the final product and how, through my design, I can best get that story across.
My favorite storytelling medium is the comic book, although animation is pulling a strong second. People constantly try to "legitimize" comics by calling them "graphic novels", but personally I think they are quite legitimate as COMICS, so that's what I call them. The comic is a medium both information and entertainment can be transferred in a universal way, and I support them fully (though most of them are fairly bad these days).
I have a few things on my creative plate at the moment, I'm hoping to have a new comic or two ready for print this summer (2007) and I have several new cartoons in the works through Dreadfully Slick Developments (http://www.jamurai.com), my creative partnership with Iceberg Slick.
